Tikal ticket prices 2026 at a glance
The Tikal entrance fee is GTQ 150 for foreign visitors and GTQ 25 for Guatemalan citizens. All prices are per person and in Guatemalan quetzales (GTQ). Sunrise and sunset visits are sold as extra tickets on top of the regular one, and a guide is paid separately.
Children under 10 enter free, whatever their nationality. From the 10th birthday the regular fare applies. The ticket is valid for 30 days after purchase, and once it is validated at the gate it only counts for that day.
You can buy online with a Visa or Mastercard, or pay cash at the bank counter at the first park checkpoint. Tours from Flores differ on whether the park entry is part of the price, so check the included list on each card below.

Our picks: tours with the entry included
These three include the park entry, so there is no ticket to buy separately. The El Remate tour is the shortest day; the two-day trip adds Yaxhá.

The ticket shop asks for the regular Tikal ticket as well when you add the museums, the camping area or Uaxactún. Paying online with an international card adds 2.30 percent: a foreign day visitor pays GTQ 153.45, and a day ticket plus one special window GTQ 255.75, in both cases without guide or transport.
For most visitors the regular ticket is all they need. Add the sunrise or sunset ticket only if you plan one of those visits with a guide.
How to buy Tikal tickets
Online or in cash, and what to bring.
Online
The state ticket shop takes Visa and Mastercard. International cards carry a 2.30 percent surcharge.
Cash at the first checkpoint
The first park control, about 20 km before the visitor centre, has a bank counter (BANTRAB) where you can pay cash. The bank also has branches across Guatemala. There is no ticket desk inside the park, and mobile signal is limited.
Getting to Tikal →Your ticket document
You need the official PDF ticket (form 63A2) and a valid ID, either on your phone or printed. The tickets have no QR code, and a payment confirmation alone does not replace the ticket.
Validity
An unused ticket is valid for up to 30 days after purchase, whatever date you chose. Once it is validated on your first entry it is used up for that day. If you buy several tickets at once, the unused ones stay valid inside the same 30 days.
Opening hours and the sunrise and sunset tickets
The park is open from 06:00 to 18:00 every day of the year, holidays included, unless something outside anyone's control prevents it. The special early visit starts at about 04:00 and runs until 06:00. The evening visit runs from about 18:00 to 20:00.
Both need the regular day ticket plus the extra ticket, and an authorised guide. The ticket shop does not provide the guide, so you book one through a tour operator or on site. Day ticket plus the sunrise ticket comes to GTQ 250 for foreign visitors and GTQ 45 for Guatemalan citizens, and the same for sunset. Taking both windows on the same day comes to GTQ 350 (GTQ 65). A guide and transport are on top.
The details of the early visit, with prices of tours from Flores, are on the sunrise tour page.

Museums, camping and Uaxactún
Extras you can add to the regular ticket.
Museo Lítico
The stone museum stands on the left side of the visitor centre and is open from 08:00 to 16:00, Monday to Sunday. Entry is GTQ 30 for foreign visitors and GTQ 5 for Guatemalan citizens.
Sylvanus G. Morley Museum
Tikal has a second site museum named after Sylvanus G. Morley. Check its current opening times at the visitor centre before you plan around it.
Camping
The camping area costs GTQ 50 (GTQ 10 for Guatemalan citizens) on top of the park ticket. Check at the visitor centre what the price includes. For rooms inside and outside the park, see where to stay.
Where to stay →Uaxactún
The smaller site of Uaxactún is another 23 km of gravel road beyond the Tikal car park. Give your destination and your ticket at the Tikal checkpoint.
Other Mayan ruins →Planning a longer Guatemala trip? Things to do in Antigua fit well before or after Petén.
Tikal tickets: frequently asked questions

GTQ 150 for foreign visitors and GTQ 25 for Guatemalan citizens. Sunrise and sunset visits cost GTQ 100 and GTQ 20 extra. Children under 10 enter free.
Is the sunrise ticket included in the regular ticket?
No. It is an extra ticket, and a guide is needed on top. The same applies to the sunset visit.
Can I buy tickets at the park entrance?
You can pay cash at the bank counter at the first checkpoint, about 20 km before the visitor centre. There is no sales desk inside the park, so buy before you reach the ruins.

Is this the official Tikal ticket site?
No. This is an independent travel guide. It is not run by the park, the Ministry of Culture, CONAP or INGUAT, and it does not sell park tickets.
